rmta Competitions

fall festival

In Mid-November RMTA hosts a competitive and non-competitive festival for piano solo, voice, strings, duets, or ensembles.  Students may enter in both solo and ensemble categories, but only once in any given event, e.g., a student may enter only one solo in competitive, one solo in non-competitive, and they may also enter a duet or small ensemble.

Competitive Category: Beginner through Advanced students must play one piece of music from memory from the required era of music from our RMTA Repertoire list. Judges may choose 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Honorable Mention may be awarded at the judge’s discretion. All students receive a certificate of completion with critiques from his/her judge. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will also receive a trophy.

Non-competitive Category: Beginner through Advanced students may play one piece from any era or style. The piece does NOT need to be selected from the RMTA Repertoire list. The piece must be memorized. However, students may elect to play with music for a lowered rating. All students will receive a certificate of completion and critique.
